São Paulo’s 2000/01 season was a strong and entertaining period that marked the club’s resurgence as one of Brazil’s most competitive sides. Managed by Levir Culpi, and later Nelsinho Baptista, the team combined attacking flair with the emergence of new stars.

In 2000, São Paulo reached the Copa do Brasil final, losing narrowly to Cruzeiro, and finished near the top of the Brasileirão, powered by França, Luís Fabiano, and Rogério Ceni.

The momentum carried into 2001, when São Paulo won the Torneio Rio-São Paulo and reached the Copa Libertadores quarterfinals, playing bold, high-scoring football.

This period saw São Paulo rebuild a title-contending identity, setting the stage for the club’s golden mid-2000s era of continental and domestic dominance.
