Flamengo’s 1978 season marked the early stages of a new golden generation, as the club began assembling the core that would dominate Brazilian and South American football in the early 1980s.

Under coach Cláudio Coutinho, Flamengo built a young, talented squad led by Zico, alongside Júnior, Carpegiani, Tita, and Adílio. Their dynamic, attacking style began to take shape during the Campeonato Carioca, where Flamengo showed promise but ultimately finished second behind Fluminense.

In national competition, they performed solidly in the Campeonato Brasileiro, laying tactical and structural foundations rather than chasing titles.

The 1978 season is remembered as the year Flamengo’s future champions came together — a prelude to their legendary triumphs from 1980 onward.

We operate a 14 day refund & return policy.

A return address will be given at this stage and postage will be paid for by us dependent on adherence with refund & return policy.

We will always do our best to leave all customers happy whether that be re-issuing an item or issuing a refund were appropriate.

Kits that have been customised with names & numbers cannot be returned.
