Flamengo’s 1995/96 season was a turbulent but memorable period, defined by high expectations and flashes of brilliance amid inconsistency.

In 1995, the club celebrated its centenary by signing superstar Romário, joining Sávio and Edmundo in a high-profile attacking trio dubbed the “Dream Team.” However, despite the hype, Flamengo struggled for balance and finished 11th in the Campeonato Brasileiro, failing to meet expectations.

In 1996, under Joel Santana, Flamengo showed improvement, winning the Campeonato Carioca and playing more cohesively, with Romário prolific up front and Júnior Baiano leading the defence.

Still, they fell short in the national league again, finishing mid-table. The 1995–96 era remains remembered for glamour, star power, and unfulfilled potential — Flamengo’s “galáctico” experiment before its time.
