Boca Juniors’ 2011/12 season was a triumphant one — a return to dominance under coach Julio César Falcioni after several years of underachievement.

Boca won the 2011 Apertura championship unbeaten, going the entire 19-match campaign without a loss — an extraordinary defensive achievement led by goalkeeper Agustín Orión, captain Rolando Schiavi, and midfield anchor Leandro Somoza. In attack, Juan Román Riquelme orchestrated play, while Darío Cvitanich and Santiago Silva provided goals.

In 2012, Boca reached the Copa Libertadores final, losing narrowly to Corinthians, and won the Copa Argentina, defeating Racing Club in the final.

The 2011/12 season restored Boca’s reputation for toughness, unity, and silverware — their most complete campaign since the Bianchi era.
