Retro Aston Villa Home Shirt 1957
Aston Villa’s 1957 season is best remembered for their FA Cup triumph, one of the club’s most famous achievements. Under manager Eric Houghton, Villa won the 1956–57 FA Cup, defeating Manchester United’s “Busby Babes” 2–1 in the final at Wembley.
Two goals from Peter McParland secured victory, though the match was marred by the early injury of United goalkeeper Ray Wood after a collision with McParland — in the days before substitutions. The win earned Villa their seventh FA Cup, reaffirming their status as a major club in English football.
In the First Division, however, Villa finished a modest 10th, focusing much of their energy on the cup run.
