Aston Villa’s 1980/81 season was one of the greatest in the club’s history, as they won the First Division title for the first time since 1910. Managed by Ron Saunders, Villa’s triumph was built on consistency, teamwork, and remarkable durability — Saunders used only 14 players all season.

Key figures included captain Dennis Mortimer, midfield dynamo Gordon Cowans, winger Tony Morley, and top scorer Peter Withe, whose goals proved decisive. Villa finished with 60 points, four ahead of Ipswich Town, clinching the title with a game to spare after a tense run-in.

Their disciplined, united approach made them deserved champions and set the stage for European glory the following year.
